Does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy help facelift recovery?

Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy painful?
HBOT is generally not painful. Most patients feel ear pressure similar to flying in an airplane as the chamber pressurizes. Sessions are typically spent resting, reading, watching television, or listening to music.
Is HBOT safe after facelift surgery?
HBOT is generally considered safe when performed under proper medical supervision. The most common side effects are ear pressure, sinus discomfort, fatigue, and temporary vision changes. Serious complications are uncommon but possible.
Who is a good candidate for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Insurance usually does not cover HBOT when it is used for elective cosmetic surgery recovery. Coverage is more commonly associated with approved medical indications such as certain chronic wounds, radiation injury, decompression sickness, or compromised grafts and flaps.
Are there risks or side effects of HBOT?
Possible side effects include ear barotrauma, sinus pressure, temporary vision changes, fatigue, claustrophobia, and, rarely, oxygen toxicity. Patients should be screened before treatment to make sure HBOT is appropriate for them.
